Die Echte Nelkenwurz (Geum urbanum) gehört zur Familie der Rosengewächse (Rosaceae). Die Nelkenwurz enthält vor allem Gerbstoffe und ätherisches Öl mit dem Hauptbestandteil Eugenol. Hildegard von Bingen setzte die Nelkenwurz als Aphrodisiakum ein. In der Volksmedizin wird die Pflanze bei Durchfall, Magenbeschwerden, Appetitlosigkeit und als Tonikum eingesetzt.
